This safety alert highlights the issue of inadequate material properties of small diameter clamp connectors and the potential for sudden brittle failure following an incident which occurred on an offshore production platform where a 1” diameter Vector ‘Techlok’ pipework clamp connector catastrophically failed causing a gas release.
